I’ve always considered myself a die-hard Disney fan. I’ve explored every nook and cranny of Disneyland and California Adventure, or so I thought. Little did I know there was a hidden gem called Silhouette Studio waiting to be discovered on Main Street, USA. And who better to unearth this treasured spot than the ever-reliable TikTok?

In one of the TikTok videos that came across my screen, user @emmwee takes a trip to Silhouette Studio. Seated in front of an artist, their silhouettes are skillfully cut from black paper. The result? Artistic profiles that are then pasted on beautifully decorated Disney-themed paper. And guess what? This magical experience only costs $12!
Naturally, my curiosity was piqued. After being bombarded with multiple videos showcasing this delightful activity and its accompanying keepsake, I knew I had to track down Silhouette Studio on my next Disney excursion.

Located on the right side of Main Street, USA, Silhouette Studio seemed like an enigmatic secret until TikTok let the cat out of the bag. Nestled between Market House, the home of Disneyland’s Starbucks, and the Crystal Arts store, famous for its crystal mementos, this unassuming shop had managed to evade my notice all these years. Turns out, many storefronts on Main Street are merely facades, and I had mistakenly assumed Silhouette Studio was one of them. Boy, was I wrong!
According to the Disney Parks Blog, this charming store has been welcoming guests with its glass window displays and expert silhouette artists since one day after Disneyland’s grand opening in July 1955. These skilled creators meticulously craft beautiful profiles, sometimes even cutting multiple silhouettes at once. A true testament to their talent and craftsmanship!

Stepping inside the cozy shop, hardly spacious enough for a few eager patrons, we took our seats facing Main Street. In a matter of seconds, a skilled Disney artist effortlessly cut my sister’s and my profiles from black paper. The whole process took no more than 90 seconds!
Once the delicate silhouettes were completed, an assistant deftly pasted them onto paper adorned with the iconic Disneyland logo. The basic black-and-white silhouettes cost $11.99, but for those seeking a touch of elegance, an ornate black-and-gold frame could be added for an additional $19.99, bringing the total to $34.46.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. The waiting time in line tends to be longer than the actual silhouette creation process itself. Thanks to TikTok’s influence, the studio has gained immense popularity. During my visit, every person I chatted with in the winding queue mentioned having seen one video or another about Silhouette Studio, which inspired them to turn this delightful experience into a treasured part of their Disney day.
